Operations Manager

I became involved in photography, of course, through my wife, Natalie.  As the Studio grew there was a need to have an outsider handle things that were less creative (tasks that photographers don’t like to do).   So in 2007, I joined the team.

Growing up, my life has been influenced by the three greatest small towns in America,  LaGrange, Georgia, Milton, Florida, and Valdese, North Carolina.   These towns were wonderful places for a kid to play, learn, and thrive as a child.  There were a few other locations along the way, but this trivium, along with my parents and church,  framed my world view.

Images of these three places bring a smile to my face.  I sometimes find myself wishing for a capture of moments in these three towns, a special photograph to treasure and share with my children. In LaGrange, I wish I had a picture as a young boy, standing on a stool behind the counter my grandfather’s store, as I helped him ring up a sale.  In Milton, there is the mental image of working on the farm with my Dad.  In Valdese, I always see myself at the Rec Center on the pool deck.  But I don’t have a tangible photograph of any of these.    And Boy, I wish I did.

As our Studio is contracted for weddings, family portraits, and events, we feel it is part of our obligation to our clients to feel their need for similar images twenty years from now.  During those times growing up, no one, certainly not me, thought that later on in life we may want a nice picture of this or that.   But I wish I had one now!

The burden of moments lost, is always present in our work as photographers.  In every session our photographers understand the passage of time and inability to replicate the moment.  So we strive to make it all count in a beautiful, artistic and creative way.  The history of your family is told through stories and photographs.  We want to do our part.

Wake Forest University (only 2800 students when I was there) helped reinforce my love for family, community, and institutions.  So call me a traditionalist, if you’d like.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History in 1982.

Between then and 2007,  I’ve worked mostly in the Food Service/Hospitality Industry, in a variety of roles.   In 1993, I purchased a little restaurant which brought me to Greensboro, where I met my wife, settled down, and with her began raising our children.  We have two, Joe and Henry.

More to come…..
