The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Joseph Harper Maddux of Greensboro, North Carolina and the late Mr. Maddux. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Russell Summers of Pleasant Hill, Mississippi and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Towns Maddux, senior of Raleigh, North Carolina. The bride is a graduate of Greensboro Day School and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. She was presented by the Greensboro Debutante Club and the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh. The bride works in design for Anita Holland Interiors in Charlotte, North Carolina. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Edward Powell of Richmond, Virginia. He is the grandson of Mrs. Henry Dean Moorman and the late Dr. Moorman of Pasadena, California, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Terry Edward Powell of Danville, Virginia. He is a graduate of The Collegiate School, Richmond Virginia and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy from Princeton University. He works in finance for Apollo Investment Management in New York, New York. Given in marriage by her mother, the bride was attended by her sister Neil Maddux Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina as matron of honor. Priscilla Wyatt Powell, sister of the groom, of Richmond was maid of honor. Readers were Laura Shaughnessy Schroeder of Arlington, Virginia and William Tolar Nolley of Richmond. Greeters were Madeleine Berry Smith of New Bern, North Carolina; Leigh Brantley Wheeler of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Elizabeth Stafford White of Charlotte. The groom’s father served as best man. Ushers were Christopher Adams Savington Crampton of New York, New York; Henry Pollard Long III and Stuart Porter Winston both of Richmond, Virginia; William Michael Miller, brother-in-law of the bride, of Charlotte; Frederic Potts Moore IV of Charlotte; and Addison Baker Thompson, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee. Following a wedding trip to Bora Bora and New Zealand, the couple will live in New York, New York.
