Eating at the Community Table

Remember that Coke commercial years ago, “I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony… ” where all those strangers got together and shared a moment in time? I always liked the idea.

I recently attended an event that brought over a hundred people together, in perfect harmony, to share a special evening. The Community Table was put on by the non-profit group Triad Local First. Aesthetic Images Photography is a member of this hardworking organization and was delighted to offer photography coverage for the event. Jon Eric and I happily volunteered for the assignment, and I am so glad we did!

Triad Local First is a network of locally owned and independent businesses in North Carolina’s Triad, who share a commitment to support each other by buying local. There are about 100 members of this organization and almost every single member donated something to help pull this fund-raising event together.

Summerfield Farms, locally owned and family operated, graciously hosted the party. David Couch, along with Sue and Scott Phillips, have a beautiful farm just a few miles north of Greensboro where they raise beef, chicken and turkey. They care about all the animals on the farm. However, it was easy to see the special affection for Buzz and Checkers, two of the turkeys that roam the farm, along with the ducks and the chickens.

Alice Matthews managed the entire event flawlessly. Southern Roots, Iron Hen, and Zeto Wines put together a wonderful fall harvest menu of beef, vegetables, Childress Vineyard Wine selections, and a yummy sweet potato cake. The tables were placed end to end, covered by a white tablecloth and burlap runner with wildflowers in mason jars as centerpieces. The enormous tree we ate under was decorated with white lights by K2 Productions that hung from its branches like moss in a willow tree. It was something out of a magazine.

Thank you Triad Local First, Maribeth Hudgins of Dress Code, Lee Comer of Iron Hen, and all the hardworking volunteers for creating such a memorable event!

Old Couple In love

As wedding photographers, we photograph a lot of young couples in love, newlyweds with a blissful idea of what their marriage will be like. On occasion we are asked to document a 50th wedding celebration. These are beautiful jubilees of family and faithfulness.

On September 3rd, my family and I were humbled to attend the 70th Wedding Anniversary of Francis Jane and Rudy Harris, my great aunt and uncle. The afternoon reception in their honor was held in North Augusta, South Carolina where they have lived for more than 50 years.

Francis Jane Gordy and Alton Rudolph Harris were married in La Grange, Georgia, in 1941, a few short months before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Rudy survived the war. Together they survived all of their generational peers and one son. They still maintain a home together. They are an old couple in love.

Blair Elizabeth Oâ€™Briant and Jackie Allen Mastantuno were married February 12, 2011 at The William Aiken House in Charleston, South Carolina. The ceremony was performed by the Doctor Charles Jerry Williams, Junior and coordinated by An Extraordinary Event. A reception hosted by the brideâ€™s father followed at The William Aiken House.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Forsyth Cobb Glenn, Junior of Greensboro, North Carolina and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Stewart Oâ€™Briant of Whitefish, Montana. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Horace Heafner of Stuarts Draft, Virginia and Joyce Niebell Oâ€™Briant of Greensboro, North Carolina and the late Paul William Oâ€™Briant, Junior. Blair is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in English and Creative Writing and is employed by Createspace as a creative coordinator.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mastantuno, Junior of Camden, South Carolina and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stewart Rector of North Charleston, South Carolina and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Christopher Mastantuno, Senior of Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from the College of Charleston and obtained his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is in private practice in Charleston.

Serving as maid of honor was Elisabeth Ann Wasilewski of Orlando, Florida. Bridesmaids were Alexandra Elisabeth Glenn of Greensboro, North Carolina and Havilland Brooke Oâ€™Briant of Whitefish, Montana, sisters of the bride.

Best man was Karl Stewart Mastantuno, brother of the groom, of North Charleston, South Carolina. Groomsmen were Wenjin Wang of San Jose, California, Joerg Sven Marks of Lexington, South Carolina and Poya Moshtaghi Moghadam of Atlanta, Georgia.

Program attendants were Ashleigh Marie McFarlin and Jennifer Leigh Allen, both of Greensboro, North Carolina, cousins of the bride. The flower girl was Carson Elaine Mastantuno, niece of the groom, of North Charleston, South Carolina. Aiden Benjamin Jones, nephew of the groom, of North Charleston, South Carolina served as ring bearer.

On the eve of the wedding a tea at the Charleston Place Hotel was hosted by Elizabeth Marie Heafner, the brideâ€™s grandmother. A Low Country Barbecue was hosted later that evening by Mr. and Mrs. Glenn and the groomâ€™s parents at a private home on Isle of Palms, South Carolina. A post wedding brunch was given at a private residence on Isle of Palms, South Carolina by Mr. and Mrs. Carlin Clark of Fairfax Station, Virginia and Mr. and Mrs. James Horace Heafner, Junior, of Waynesboro, Virginia, aunts and uncles of the bride.

After a honeymoon trip to Paris, Rome and Switzerland, the couple will reside in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Miss Rebecca Kent Barger and Mr. Daniel Alexander Sheaff were married at six oâ€™clock on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Reverend Doctor Sidney Franklin Batts officiated. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Greensboro Country Club. On Friday evening the rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at the Proximity Hotel.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Kent Barger of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Brigham Webb of Tunica, Mississippi and the late Mr. Webb, and Mrs. Donald Ray Barger of Greenwood, Mississippi and the late Mr. Barger. The bride is a graduate of Greensboro Day School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina. The bride is employed by Vieuxtemps in Charleston, South Carolina.

The groom is the son of Ms. May Beverly Hemby of Charlotte, North Carolina and Mr. Danny Earl Sheaff of Indian Trail, North Carolina. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Torrence Eli Hemby, junior. Paternal grandparents are Mrs. Earl Hampton Sheaff and the late Mr. Sheaff. He is a graduate of Providence Day School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University. The groom is employed by Ecobilt Energy Systems in Charleston.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sisters, Bettie Parsons Barger as maid of honor and Rachel Barger Cobb as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Gaines Donaldson Douglas, Molly Fortune Hassenfelt, Catherine Cameron Leppard, Clarence Blake Mills, and May Beverly Norman, sister of the groom. Honorary bridesmaids were Lindsay Gray Alexander, Nancy Carlson Calhoun, Caroline Parrott DuRant, Jessica Caitlin Ebert, Margaret Scott McFarland, Margaret Quinn Mounger, Dana Ellen Murphy, Elizabeth Christian Pope, and Bonnie DeWitt Scales. The flower girls were Dawson Alexander Amick, cousin of the groom, Rebecca Parsons Cobb, niece of the bride, Mary Evelyn McLean, cousin of the bride, and Shaelyn Blye Sheaff, niece of the groom. The reader was Matthew Leighton McAdams. Program attendants were Lacy Neill Barger, Julia Evans Hight, and Mary Margaret Mink, all cousins of the bride.

The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were John William Gray, Walter Jordan Gussenhoven, Joseph Andrew Hollmeyer, Horace Robinson Kornegay III, William Ludwick Palmer, William Tyler Martin, James Heilig Wilkinson IV. Ushers were Alan Michael Burnett, junior, cousin of the groom, Matthew Perkins Cobb, brother-in-law of the bride, Shane Hampton Sheaff, brother of the groom, Thomas Heath Norman, brother-in-law of the groom, Thomas Joseph Mascia, cousin of the groom, and Torrence Hemby Tennant, cousin of the groom.

Following a wedding trip to Belize, the couple will reside in Charleston.

Catherine Grace Duncan and Scott Howard Warfield were married at half after five o’clock on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Reverend Timothy Jay Patterson officiated. A reception at Greensboro Country Club followed the ceremony. On Friday evening, the parents of the groom hosted a dinner at the Blandwood Carriage House.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Calton Duncan of Greensboro, North Carolina. First Trip to the First Coast

Our Studio’s first working trip to Jacksonville, Florida was last week.Â Jon Eric Johnson, Vada Bostian, and I went down to the First Coast of Florida for a fabulous wedding and wedged in a few family portraits sessions while there.Â The Wedding was the marriage celebration of Jon Greaker of New York and Ginger Baker from Jacksonville.Â Â It was a beatuifule ceremony at Southside UMC followed by reception at the Epping Forest Yacht Club.

Our Journey to JAXÂ actually began in September 2006.Â As I begin to post more stories here, you’ll come to realize that they will all have something to do with being raised in the South, farming, or the Deacons.Â By Deacons, I mean the Wake Forest University kind, not the Church kind.Â Although, I do plan to inject a little Baptist Theology in future posts. This story has to do with the Deacons and the South.

both of New York, N.Y., were married at 6:30 p.m. June 5 in Southside
United Methodist Church. The ceremony was followed by a reception at
Epping Forest Yacht Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart Baker III,
Jacksonville. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cato
Colbert, the late Roxanna Van Sant Betts and the late John Stewart Baker
Jr. The bride was graduated from The Bolles School, Washington and Lee
University and New York University Stern School of Business. She is
employed by Siemens Financial Services Inc. as a vice president.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary William Greaker, Bayshore, N.Y.
He is the grandson of Mary Quinn, Long Island, N.Y., and the late William
Francis Quinn, and Edith Greaker, Long Island, and the late Frank William
Greaker. The groom was graduated from Gettysburg College. He is employed
by Guy Carpenter and Company LLC as a senior vice president.

The brideâ€™s sister, Cornelia Graham Baker, was the maid of honor, and the
groomâ€™s brother, Douglas Edward Greaker, was the best man. The brideâ€™s
brother, John Stewart Baker IV, was a groomsman.

Following a trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar, the couple will live in New York.

He works in finance for Apollo Investment Management in New York, New York.

He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Kyle Millaway, Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sylvester Douglas Jr., all of Winston-Salem. Chris is a graduate of Charlotte Country Day School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The bride, escorted by her father, wore her mother’s wedding gown and veil. Her sisters, Lindsay Stratton and Macie Stratton, of Charlotte, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Courtney Dixon of Greensboro; Catherine Duncan and Lillian Smith, of Charlotte; Mary Ellen Graham of Fort Mill, SC; Taylor Stevens of Atlanta, GA: Tori Barnett and Allison Jones, both of New York, NY; and Molly Tyler of Charleston, SC. The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Jon Brady, brother of the groom, Sam Bowles, Robert Lesley, Glenn Sherrill, Mark Thigpen, and Charles Thrift, all of Charlotte; Johnny Rankin of Atlanta, GA; Bret Hooper of Eagle, CO; and Cutter Houck of Beacon, NY. Evelyn Fisher of Washington, DC served as a reader during the ceremony. Jennifer Dixon, Katie Williams, and Jay Williams, all of Greensboro, and Ryan Dixon of Atlanta, GA served as greeters. Stephanie and Matt were married at Starmount Presbyterian Church, in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Saturday September 26, 2009. Â The reception was held at the O.Henry Hotel.

Stephanie Clark Fogarty and Matthew Robert Rygler were united in marriage Saturday, September 26, 2009, at half past five o’clock at Starmount Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC. The Reverend Doctor George Carpenter and The Reverend John Odom officiated.

Music was provided by Robert and Rhonda Overman, vocalists; Christian McIvor, trumpeter; and John Alexander, organist. Guests were greeted by Chappie and Aubrey Wright.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The O. Henry Hotel with the Catbaby! Band. On Friday evening, the rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the Proximity Hotel. The bridesmaids’ brunch was hosted by Betsy Bullard, Eliza Burton, and Jane Mitchell at the home of Mrs. Bullard.

The bride is the daughter of Steve and Nancy Fogarty of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Colonel and Mrs. Richard E. Fogarty and the late Mrs. and Mrs. Boatman E. Clark. She is a graduate of Grimsley High School, East Carolina University, and North Carolina State University.

The groom is the son of Kenneth A. Rygler of Austin, Texas and Alma E. Darling of Wilmington, Delaware. He is the grandson of Mary Rygler and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Darling. He is a graduate of Tower Hill School in Wilmington, Delaware and Amherst College. He is employed by Aetea Information Technology, Inc.

The bride was attended by her college roommates Abby Stallworth as maid of honor and Elizabeth Warren as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Leslie Fogarty, Lee Rendleman, Jennifer Rygler, and Lisa Rygler. Kylie Schodorf was junior bridesmaid and Claire Fogarty flower girl.

The groom was attended by high school friends Nick Bodor and Ryan Gunther as best men. Groomsmen were Bob Downing, Michael Fogarty, Dave Jaquette, and Ben Stauffer. Ring bearer was Trent Schodorf.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Paris and Amsterdam and now reside in Wilmington, Delaware.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Katie Carlson Houston of Greensboro, NC and Mr. Richard Tucker Houston of Palo Alto, CA. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ivan Carlson, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; Mrs. Natalie Tucker Houston of Southington, CT; and the late Edward Francis Houston of Ponte Vedra, FL. She is a 2000 graduate of Greensboro Day School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2004 from Furman University in Greenville, SC. She was presented by the Debutante Club of Greensboro, NC.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Joel Morris Wagoner of Chapel Hill, NC. He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles Wesley Merritt of Beckley, WV and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alger Loyce Wagoner of Liberty, NC. He is a graduate of Virginia Episcopal School of Lynchburg, VA, North Carolina State University, and West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He is in private dental practice in Chapel Hill, NC.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and was attended by her sister, Ashley Houston Kaufman of Charlotte, NC as Matron of Honor. Following the ceremony, the reception was hosted by the parents of the bride at the Greensboro Country Club. On Friday evening, the parents of the groom hosted the rehearsal dinner at the O. Henry Hotel.

Following a wedding trip to the Turks and Caicos, the couple will reside in Chapel Hill, NC.

Tina Rosanne Jenkins and Steven Mark Brinkley were united in holy marriage on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 5:00 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ in Whitsett, North Carolina. Mr. Rick OHare was the officiant. A reception was held at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Kent Jenkins of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Robert L. Maness of Greensboro and the late Mrs. Sarah G. Hill and Ms. Grace W. Jenkins of Greensboro and the late Mr. Elmer Jenkins. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Wayne Brinkley of Wilmington. He is the grandson of Mrs. Marguerite E. Whichard of Greensboro and the late Mr. Phillip M. Whichard and the late Mrs. Flossy Ricker and Mr. Charles E. Brinkley.

The bridesmaids were Emily Brame of Stokesdale, Melissa McKinney-Cunane of Greensboro, Kori Trainor of Winston-Salem, Lauren Gore of Greensboro, and Kimberly Loy of Graham, all friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaid was Ella Cunane. Guest book attendants were Mara Whichard of Wilmington and Miranda Whichard of Greensboro, both cousins of the groom.

The groom’s father served as his best man. The groomsmen were Kevin Brinkley of Wilmington, brother of the groom, Casey Willett of Greensboro, Micah Sandt of Julian, and Randy Jordan of Thomasville, all friends of the groom. The junior groomsman was Chase Whichard, cousin of the groom. Gavin Loy was the ring bearer. Kathy Willett, friend of the couple, directed the wedding.

The bride graduated cum laude from the University of North Carolina Greensboro where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She recently earned a Master of Education from Elon University. She is currently a teacher of exceptional children with Guilford County Schools.

The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina Greensboro where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He is currently a branch manager with Coble Trench Safety in Greensboro.

After a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Greensboro.
