Mary Gaines Donaldson and Thomas Dixon Douglas were married at half past six o’clock on Saturday,
February 20, 2010. The ceremony was held at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro with the Reverend Dorothy C. Hunt officiating. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Greensboro Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Kathy Lynn Cross and Mr. James Harold Donaldson of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of Mr. William Seth Cross, Jr. of Greensboro and the late Mrs. Cross, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ward Donaldson of Morehead City. The bride graduated from North Carolina State University and is a manager at Acquisitions.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson Douglas of Winston-Salem. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Kyle Millaway, Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sylvester Douglas Jr., all of Winston-Salem. The groom graduated from Wake Forest University and is employed by GMR Marketing.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Emily Grace Donaldson, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Hunter Brady Douglas, sister-in-law of the groom, Lindsay Gray Alexander, Rebecca Kent Barger, Bonnie Grace deWitt, Molly Fortune Hassenfelt, Catherine Cameron Leppard, Mary Elizabeth Maynard, and Clarence Blake Mills. Honorary attendants were Nancy Carlson Calhoun, Dana Ellen Murphy and Rachel Helen Wolff.
James Wilson Douglas, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Sandlin Millaway Douglas and James Wilson Douglas, Jr., both brothers of the groom, James Brandon Donaldson, brother of the bride, Bobby Lee Cockerham III, William Burrell Crittendon III, Hart Guerard Dillard, Jeremy Lee Gomez, and William Everette Mills. The ushers were Jonathan Matthew Doorley, Haddon Clark Kirk, Thomas Albert Ragsdale and William Charles Wilson.
The groom’s godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Borden Hanes Jr., hosted an engagement party at Old Town Club. The groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Revolution Mill. The dance following the dinner was hosted by the groom’s family and friends.
Following a honeymoon trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Charlotte.
