Greensboro Oyster Roast raises more than $340,000 for Family Service of the Piedmont 

(Greensboro – May 17, 2019) – The Family Service of Greensboro Foundation and the Guild of Family Service of Greensboro held its 16th Annual Oyster Roast in support of Family Service of the Piedmont on May 3 in Irving Park. More than 1,000 guests attended the event, raising more than $340,000.

Presented by VF Corporation, the outdoor, casual event featured live music from Right to Party, and oysters and a dinner buffet served by Pepper Moon Catering. The Pearls of the Oyster Roast pre-party, presented by Cone Health, celebrated top sponsors.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Greensboro programs of Family Service, such as the Clara House domestic violence shelter and Children’s Advocacy Center for abused children.

The event was made possible through the help of hundreds of volunteers, and was co-chaired by Beth Baker, Diane Conterno-Neese and Lex Kulman. The honorary chair of the event was Missy Akin.

“The Greensboro community and many hardworking and dedicated people came together for this successful event, raising the most money ever,” said Kulman. “The effort will greatly enable Family Service to help more people address child abuse, overcome domestic violence, improve their mental health and become financially stable.”

A raffle at the event included a $2,500 Ultimate Shopping Experience donated by Bassett Furniture and a $1,900 pair of Roberto Coin earrings donated by Fink’s Jewelers.

The North Carolina Museum of History Associates held thier 22nd Annual Spring Frolic at the Carolina Country Club in Raleigh. This year the Associates honored Lyl & Aaron Clinard and Mary Powell & Dunlop White.

Spring Frolic Co-Chairs were Amy Brooks & Buck Copeland, Sally & Charles Corpening, Joan & Ran Johnston and Billy Wilson.

2019 Guilford Heart Ball

2019 Guilford Heart Ball raises nearly $300,000 for heart disease research, stroke research and prevention education.

The numbers are in! Over 200 community and business leaders attended the American Heart Association’s 2019 Guilford Heart Ball on February 9, raising nearly $300,000 for heart disease and stroke research and prevention education.

Big Hair Ball

Presented by The Guild and Junior Guild of Family Service of Greensboro, the Seventh Annual Big Hair Ball took place on January 26. The artistic runway fashion show took place at the Kaplan Center for Wellness on UNC-Greensboro’s campus.

A group of 49 models from 11 area public and private high schools with amazingly-styled Big Hair, in edgy fashions wowed the audiance of 1100. Makeup was courtesy of local designers and make-up artists. All models are members of the Guild and Junior Guild for Family Service of Greensboro. Event goers experienced a great show, cocktail reception, a raffle, and silent auction. This year a record amount was raised for children and families in Guilford County.

Although Aesthetic Images Photography has embraced Family Services of the Piedmont for the last decade as sponsors for their Oyster Roasts in both Greensboro and High Point, and has provided photography services for the FSP Board and promotional materials, this is our first year as a WOW sponsor of the Big Hair Ball. We loved it.
